No News is Good News

The "No News is Good News" cliche is definitely applicable in our lives. I mean we have news but nothing too extraordinary and we're just too busy to share much of it. Busy Busy Busy! Having not blogged about anything since like March, I'm sure I will miss things in this mind dump that is about to occur.

1. High School Baseball and Softball came and went. We watched many many games, lots of runs, and ate lots of ballpark burgers.
2. School ended and I am working a lot more hours at the golf course.
3. Summer Baseball has started, we just got back from a trip to Boise with The Blacksmith Fork Trappers.

So I guess it really doesn't sound that busy but it feels like our heads are spinning. We're happy, we're busy, and we're loving life.

Madness of our March! (Has nothing to do with Basketball)

Well I have this problem where I walk around like a zombie all day on Sunday and then as soon as I try to lay down to sleep I've turned into a insomniac! So, I'll blog recap our March. The spring is the greatest time, and this year has been like the best spring ever! It's actually been like having a spring not a drawn out winter that refuses to die!

I got to go back to work at the golf course starting the end of February! I have literally the greatest job in the whole wide world and I'm so very happy to be back there with the fantastic people I work with.

The first weekend in March is when the softball team is down in St. George. Waylon and I got to go down after work and school on Friday, watch Per play a few games Friday night and Saturday and then we came home on Sunday afternoon. It was great to get out in the sun a little bit and watch Per play some ball.

We came home for the week cause we both had to work. But, when Friday rolled around we loaded back up and headed south again. Waylon got invited to help coach the varsity baseball team and of course I was down for another couple of days in the sunshine.

Coming back from Spring break is the absolute worst so my attendance was less than stellar this week. Good news is that there are only 5 weeks plus finals week until its Summer break! I can't wait to go on bunches of adventures with my cute Waylon.

Speaking of my cute Waylon..... Drum roll please.... We start day shift on the 31st of March. I am so excited that I can't even convey it. I'm thrilled to have my sweet hubby home with me at nights, even if it mean's waking up at 4:30 every morning to get him out the door to work.

That's pretty much our March in a nut shell. Hope ya'll are having a great spring.

Classic St. Valentines Day Conundrum

Ok so here's the thing, I have had every view of Valentine's day that's even possible! I've been a V-Day hater (being 14 is rough). I've been a sappy engaged 19 year old living 2 hrs from her finance (that was a whinny year). I even remember having been a happy go lucky 3rd grader; just hoping that my classmates gave me good candy hooked to my generic Valentines in my decorated box. And now I've spent it as a newly-wed! This year totally wins!

Waylon is always so good at Valentines Day! This is the 5th year I've been lucky enough to call him my Valentine. He always gets me gorgeous flowers and the most heartfelt cards. I have a tendency to suck terribly at Valentines Day, like worse than you can really even imagine. I'm terrible at cards, completely forgetting to get one half of the time. Basically I'm saying I'm the luckiest girl to have him.

Waylon got me some gorgeous roses and took me shopping for new boots (he noticed mine are totally trashed) down in Ogden. I had told Waylon I wanted to try the Timbermine Steak house down that way and my parents decided to join us. It was delicious and I love that Waylon and my parents are good enough buddies that we could double on Valentines Day. I made desert and it only took about 3 months of not so subtle hinting for me to finally make Waylon's favorite Oreo pie. It was a great Valentines Day.

So even though it's 3 days later I still love my Valentine. He's still the sweetest, cutest, most love-able, and amazing guy I've ever met let alone loved! I'm blessed beyond believe.

February Thus Far

So I've pretty much decided that my goal is to blog once or twice a month and that anything else is a bonus. It's very important that goals be realistic ;)

February is a less favorite month of mine, I only enjoy the winter, snow, and cold as it's leading up to Christmas and New Years so my spring fever starts about mid January. That being said I am trying not to be such a mopey Molly.

I do love Valentines Day and I'm pretty excited for my first one with a husband. In the 5 years that Waylon and I have known each other we've only gotten to spend one Valentines day together. This year I'm so excited I went out and bought a new dress from an adorable little boutique. It's pretty flashy and very unlike me but it's adorable and I love it. I bought it while Waylon was at winter workouts so I told him when he came home: "I've bought a dress for Valentines day, so just take that into account as you plan. I'm totally fine with going to McDonald's, just know that I will be a bit over dressed if that's what we do"

Every single year I've had the most difficult time with what to get him for Valentines Days. Boys are hard to shop for! This year I decided to get him a little present for the 14 days leading up to Valentines day. I put cheesy little notes on them and stick it somewhere in the house for him to find. It's dorky but so are we! I am still trying to figure out something a little bit better for Friday! It's not hopeless yet.

We've really had a pretty uneventful start to the month. I'm still just hoping for the snow to melt quickly so the golf course can start back up. Not working right now has done miracles for my grades however. We're still waiting anxiously and hoping for Waylon's transfer to day shift to go through. We're hoping for sometime in the beginning of next month. We're also getting geared up for the beginning of the baseball/softball season. I'm so excited to be up here so I can watch Per play and Waylon coach. High School Baseball/Softball is one of my favorites times of the year.

That's all from the Hervey Household for now. Have a Happy rest of your February!

Catch-up for the New Year

Well you know how it goes. The Holidays got busy and I haven't blogged in well, a good long while. Here is my best attempt to play a really quick catch-up.

November

-We spent Thanksgiving in San Diego at my oldest sister's house with her family! It was fantastic! I think Thanksgiving at 60 degrees and a trip to the beach the day after is the way to go.

December

-We went on a Cruise with Randy and family to the Caribbean. I always love to take a nice warm trip in the middle of winter to try to break it up a little bit.

-We said see ya later to Bailey for 18 months when she left to serve the people of Columbia, South Carolina on a mission.

-We had our first Christmas as a married couple! It was seriously the greatest. We got a teeny tiny tree (A real, live one 'cause Waylon says "Fake Tree, Fake Christmas") We had a great Christmas Eve at my mom's  house with all the Howells and a lot of delicious food. We woke up Christmas morning and exchanged presents at home. Waylon has better fashion sense than I do and got me some really cute clothes. It was hard to tell what his favorite gift was. I think it was a toss up between his new Nike Elite socks and his large tub of Chik-fil-a sauce that came in his stocking. Then we headed over to the Hervey's to exchange gifts, and then off to Grandma Sara's house! Next we went over to Randy's and lastly back to my mom's to play some games and eat left overs. It was a very busy day but we wouldn't have it any other way. I love that we have so much family in the valley that we get to spend time with.

-For New Years Eve we kept with one of our favorite traditions and went to the buffet at The Coppermill with my parents! It's delicious and it's fun to spend part of our night with them and some of my siblings. When we got done at dinner we headed out to Waylon's brothers house to hang out with them! It was a nice laid back New Years (And the 5 year anniversary of Waylon and I's first kiss)

January

-New Years day my mom and I went down to the Dillards in Ogden because we are still sore about ours closing and it's her favorite sale of the year. Apparently every other person that used to go to the sale in Logan was there too! It was absolute chaos! So jam packed, we will not be doing that again.

-I started my 3rd to last semester of my undergraduate degree on the 6th of January. Spring semester is really hard for me for some reason. I don't like leaving the house when it's cold, I just want to stay home in bed! So far so good, 2 weeks in I haven't missed a class yet (knock on wood.)

-Hopefully we are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel of these crappy graveyard shifts. Waylon has officially applied for a couple of day shift openings now its just a matter of waiting and getting through the interview process.

-Waylon started winter-workouts with his freshmen baseball team. He absolutely loved coaching last year and we're both really excited to see what this new group of boys bring this season.

Well, there's my catch-up. We're busy as ever with work and school but really everything
great, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Wedding Pictures!

I'm supposed to be doing homework right now but I'm having a brain cramp and just can't fake it anymore for a while. So I decided I should blog our wedding pictures. It took forever to get them back but overall I'm really happy with them. I'm not going to put them all up just a few favorites. Enjoy :)
